It takes a village to raise a child is a very old African proverb that has stood the test of time for a reason. The reality is that time is a highly prized commodity. In today's fast-paced world it has become ever more evident that it won't take technology alone to solve the problem of not enough time. Technology can help us heal and it can help us remain mobile longer but it takes a human touch to help keep us independent. Someone to make a meal or a snack, to take us to an appointment or laugh along with us during a favourite movie or show.
That's where the village of helping hands reaches out to assist in ways your loved ones need us most. By helping with the little things we keep them independent longer and that independence transforms in to happier, stress-free human beings!
Services and Rates
Companionship ~ sometimes all your loved one needs is someone to listen. At their stage in life many friends and family members have already passed on and the younger generation is building a life for themselves. We like to bring our helping hands in to your senior's home to keep them company: watching a favourite TV show, playing a game of cards or reading aloud.
Health Appointments ~ as time goes by health appointments seem to become as plentiful as the candles on their cake. Keeping track of the varying types of health practioners who need to see your senior can be daunting to them and getting to and from each of those appointments can be problematic. We bring our helping hands to keep track of when appointments occur and what happens during each appointment. This helps everyone stay organized and stay up-to-date!
Household Duties ~ sometimes it's the smallest things that can bring the greatest relief to your senior. This is when our helping hands can wash dishes, do a load of laundry, put out the garbage and recycling for pick-up, mop the floors or help with correspondence. Whatever is needed to keep the home clean and make your senior happy.
Meals and Snacks - missing meals and snacks can weaken a body and our helping hands can ensure that meals and snacks are being made and enjoyed to keep your senior healthy and strong.
Social Events ~ For those more adventurous seniors we can also take them out to attend a music festival, to window shop or to a car show or maybe for coffee and pie!
Personal Care ~ along with independence your senior also wants to maintain a sense of dignity. Our helping hands can aid them with hygiene, grooming and dressing in a respectful and professional way.
Respite Care - if you have already been caring for your senior perhaps you need some down time to re-charge or you need to attend an important event or your own appointments. Our helping hands can take your place.
